Ivy League Profile: Columbia University
Columbia University, located in the City of New York, is a renowned Ivy League college. The beautiful Manhattan-based campus has been a place of academic learning and intellectual curiosity since its creation in 1754. The university offers over 100 programs of study and a 6:1 student to faculty ratio. There are currently 6,700 undergraduates enrolled at Columbia College, where undergrads can choose from more than 80 majors and concentrations. The school is, unsurprisingly, deeply competitive: for the Class of 2025, only 2,355 of 60,551 applicants received offers of admission, translating to a 4% admissions rate (for comparison, the acceptance rate was 6% in 2016). As reported by the Columbia College and School of Engineering Undergraduate Fall Admissions Statistics, admissions has become more competitive in past decade – for Class of 2018, the acceptance rate was 7%. As part of the school’s holistic and contextual application review process for undergraduate students, Columbia does not require standardized testing.
The Ivy Dean has helped dozens of students gain acceptance to Columbia over the past ten years.
