Ivy League Profile: Dartmouth College
Located in Hanover, New Hampshire and founded in 1769, Dartmouth College is a member of the Ivy League and one of the world’s greatest academic institutions. The school offers over 40 academic departments and programs and has a 7:1 student to faculty ratio. Dartmouth allows undergraduate students to “explore the arts and sciences” before declaring a major and students can choose from over 2,100 courses in the liberal arts. The school is, of course, difficult to get into; for the Class of 2026, the college’s acceptance rate was 6.4%, with only 1,808 applicants accepted out of a total of 28,336. This is a significant decrease since 2017, when the acceptance rate for the Class of 2021 was 10.4% and the pool of applicants was 20,034. In line with recent industry trends, Dartmouth has gone test optional – students have not needed to submit standardized testing scores since 2020, for the Class of 2024.
The Ivy Dean has helped dozens of students gain acceptance to Dartmouth College over the past ten years. As a professional company with two expert college admissions specialists – President Drusilla Blackman, who formerly served as Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at Columbia University and Dean of Graduate Admissions at Harvard University, Vice-President Christian Rabin, and Hope Weinstein – we have an in-depth understanding of how campus admissions officers decide which students to admit, waitlist and reject. Our experienced and dedicated counselors guide students and their families through every step of Dartmouth’s admissions process, providing special assistance with application essays given their increased importance in the absence of standardized testing requirements.
